This week finds me at WH on Monday and Friday.
5/OCT: On Monday K-Jass listened to Skeleton Hiccups by Margery Cuyler and we discussed easy (everybody) books, their location and arrangement. Fourth grade-Tangeman listened to One Witch by Laura Leuck and discussed the difference between nonfiction and fiction call numbers and how they are arranged.
9/OCT: The only class on Friday is 3-Zuehl and they will listen to Jeepers Creepers by Laura Leuck and do Activity 1. - learning about call numbers.
NOTE: Call numbers - A call number is the letters/numerals typed on the small white label on the spine of a book; i.e., FIC CUY, E BRI, or 818 PRE. It is like a house number, and in the library we refer to this as the call number. Long ago, library patrons were unable to go into the stacks of books in a library, so the call numbers were used to "call out" the location to the librarian who would find it for them.
I will be back at WH on 13-OCT for 3-Bruns and 15-OCT for K-Geelan & 2-Glawe. Those will be library day for students in those classes. Please remind them to return any book that is due!
MAP testing is still going on in the elementary and high school media center computer labs. Most are make-up tests.
READ EVERY DAY!
Mrs. Reiter, WH K-12 Teacher Librarian
